On a recent trip to New Zealand I was mesmerized by the turquoise waters, lush vegetation, and fertile landscape, I felt relaxed, at peace, and appreciative to be there. I was at a place where my mind felt open, free, and reflective -a perfect scenario for tapping into ideas and creating music. Most of my vacation time was spent composing, It was an opportunity to think outside of my comfort zone and past writings. I decided to compose viola duets which I had never considered before, a cello sonata with a 2nd movement that had a unique accompaniment using chromatics, all in new keys. A result of being comforted and energized by my new surroundings.
